Have you heard of words such as: Viruses, Trojan Horses, Cryptolocker, breaches, malware, and phishing? Halloween is in the not too distant future, but these scary terms have been striking fear into corporations for years. The threats are real, they are present, and they are ever evolving. For us geeks, our goal is to stay one step ahead of these threats and create layers of security to keep your personal and proprietary data safe. SolutionWorx is proud to be a National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) Champion. Security is woven into the fabric of our technology philosophy and we understand the risks your organizations face with regard to security and endpoint security. SolutionWorx has always delivered a comprehensive suite of security tools for our managed services clients.
SolutionWorx Layered Security
As the IT security landscape continues to evolve, our layered approach to delivering security services allows us to add and remove layers or products to keep your organization safe.
Over the past year we have been reviewing and evaluating next generation desktop protection solutions. Within the next several weeks, we will be rolling out a new desktop antivirus (AV) solution to all managed services clients. We are happy to be partnering with Webroot to deliver this solution.
What to expect with this new endpoint security?
Our Uptime Assurance Team will silently install the Webroot product on your managed workstations and/or laptops. Once a successful installation has been confirmed by our system, the Sophos software will silently be removed. You may notice that the familiar blue “S” shield being replaced by the new round “W” Webroot icon.
Webroot is different from traditional antivirus software in that it doesn’t use large signature file updates. Most AV software applications require your computer or devices to communicate with a service to download and install large signature files which contains a “list” of threats to block. This process can create large gaps in time where a threat is known but your computer is not protected and places increased demand on system resources to download the files and complete intensive scans.
Webroot is a lightweight software that leverages cloud technologies to deliver behavior-based detection and protection. If there is an activity on your computer that matches known suspicious behavior contained in the BrightCloud Threat database, the activity is blocked immediately. Websites that have been compromised with malware will also be blocked, ensuring that malicious software is not downloaded to your network or computer. This threat database is constantly being updated as new threats become known.
There are strength in numbers to this cloud-based approach to endpoint security. Any time a Webroot protected device encounters a threat, all other endpoints are secured from the threat in real time.
Should a computer protected by Webroot endpoint security become compromised by malware, the application contains an intelligent remediation feature that will rollback the changes made by the malware automatically. Helping you remain productive instead of having to worry about running lengthy scans to clean up infections or worse yet wipe and re-image a computer.
